new stage 5 motor but having bugs, i need advice

i have a 91 300zxtt that has a stage 5 engine jut built, when i open up the throttle the turbos spool but when it hits 4 rpm turbos stop spooling when i hear the waste gate open up and i get knocking through my exaust and the car stops pulling and i have to back off. the only thing i can think of is i dont have the boost controler hooked up, but it is installed. any comments?

what octane are you running and is the boost controller working.

this is what my car has been doin, i tried explaining it the best i could, but yeah it stops pulling and then u can hear a knock throuh the exaust, but my is n/a so it must be something seperate from your turbos

first , not having your boost controller hooked up wouldnt cause that. and yes what octane are you running.check out your injectors and plugs ....

im runing 93 but the motor only has 500 miles on it, it starts to sputter when the waste gates open and wont pull from 4 rpm on

i got more of a serious problem i took it out and its fucked up with the same problems and in the drive i saw oil dripping on the drive way. time for the mechanic!!!!!

well mine isnt leacking, and is a nonturbo but is doin the exact same thing, so when u find out whats wrong please share

im runnn 93 oct. im not stupid, and i already changed my plugs hoping that would solve the problem but it didnt help, it could be injectors ??? hmmm

what im worried about is that terorous knocking through my brand new turbo back hks exaust!

telling you its probly the fuel your running what octane you running in the car and what timing setup are you tring at what boost levels. To high of boost with too far advanced timeing on the wrong octane = knocking aka big trouble. If you have oil now dripping from under your car you probly did some damage to either a turbo oil line or to your oil pan gasket with blow by..... you hope its blow by and not blow through from running the wrong octane fuel in your car. Either way sounds bad and your not going to get much help from us without any of the basic info we ask for.

im running 93 oct on stock boost which is 10psi, as far a timing goes i dont have the tools to check it, but i think the leak has more to do with the hicas but well see tomorrow when i get it in the air.

Your Hicas could be causeing the issue. Or be part of the problem, not the cause. If you eliminate all the other variables it could very well be the simplist things. I will wait to see what it is, now I am interested in seeing if its the HICAS.

there was a leak coming right from the power stearing resovair which i fixed and i hope it will stop something but the car has a hicas eliminator which shutts off the 4 wheel stearing to just the front wheels. i saw oil coating the tranny n its comming from the front of it. i have the turbo intake tubes off and they were dirty inside, might be oil, but the motor is fresh, i maybe have a oil leak with the turbos.

ive narrowed it down to a bad gasket on the oil pan or oil line to the turbos, im gona get second opinion on it when when i find someone who lives near me n knows how to work on the z32. the only other wierd thing it does it not shift great into second from first, but thats probably a clutch alignment thing.

Could be a rear main seal. Or like you said a oil pan gasket or turbo line leaking. But it still sounds like you have many more problems than oil leak I would start to wonder about this engine or the install of it.

the bottom half was rebuilt in nov and sat untill i started driving it, i think all it needs is for me to learn how to fix it( i just got it a month ago, and am picking alot of things up about it with no prior skills on the z32. ) im new to autoformum, but have figured it out in like two days, i wish i could be more of help to my situation, but right now i dont know enough. it hasnt been runing crappy and drives fine, its was just when i tried to open it up for the 1st time is when the knocking in the exuast happened leading to the problems i have now, its gonna sit till im sure im not going to hurt it more.
