94 LX won't start
I have a '94 LX 2DR Escort and the other day when I tried to start it after school it wouldn't start. This was after a good 8 hours of sitting in the parking lot. Anyways, a loud clicking sound comes from the engine. The battery is fine and I have power to everything. I can push start my car and have had to do it a few times (I'm sick of it too). A friend of mine and I tried to take out the starter to see if that was the problem but we couldn't even get the thing to come out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have all of the bolts removed from the starter it should come out. Check to see you have all of the bolts removed....the one between the starter and engine block is hard to see...

Re: 94 LX won't start
try the good ol' "turn on the headlights and crank the engine" test.
It is possible to have voltage in the battery to run the radio and accessories, but not enough amps to turn the starter. If the headlights die out when you crank it, replace the battery. If they stay bright, look at the starter relay or the starter itsself. |

Re: 94 LX won't start
try this, it works. u said u didnt get the starter out... get a hammer and whack it a few times... not kidding, and then try starting the car. what happens is the brushes inside the starter get all pushed over after a while and whacking it like that can jolt then and loosen them up. this will only work a couple times tho... if the starter is bad then u have to replace it.
