anyone have a ViS Evo Style CF hood?

I really want a ViS Evo Style Carbon Fiber Hood but I was wondering if anyone could post pics of what it looks like on a 4th gen lude cause I've never seen it on one... also is it really easy to hydrolock your car with huge hoodscoops like that in your hood? thanks in advance, - Brandon.

bumping is an unwritten no-no here at AF fyi. not a big deal or anything but try searching through cardomain for pics of what you're looking for.

the only way you'd hyrdolock your engine is if your intake sucks up water, which in and of itself is quite difficult to do anyway. just a dirty engine bay is really all you have to worry about. if you have exposed wiring, such as from an aftermarket sub, you should take the proper precautions that those don't get messed up.

Assuming you have a spark plug wire cover (hell, maybe even if you didn't have one), I don't think its possible to hydrolock because of that hood.

If the hood made engines hydrolock, they wouldn't make them, and they wouldn't sell. Your intake has to practically be submerged in water for it to hydrolock, so rain itself shouldn't be a problem at all.

Re: anyone have a ViS Evo Style CF hood?

i had 2 VIS hoods in my day. and both were excellent quality. the fit was good and the fiber pattern all in line. and the finish among the best. that's my experience with VIS. i know back in the day VIS had major issues with fitment and quality. as long as you get a recent one, as in within the past 3 or 4 years, then you should be fine. compared to other brands though, VIS are on the heavier side. fiber images don't have the nice finish that recent VIS hoods do and some people have complained about the fitment being off, but they are lighter.

haha, if anything i would say it's the amount of clearcoat and finish they put on their hoods coz it seems like they lay it on pretty thick. the skeleton on VIS seems to be thicker too. but then you could assume they're sturdier. the differrence in weight b/w a VIS or fiber images for example is negligible for the average person.

don't get me wrong, i've seen pretty bad VIS hoods and pretty bad fiber images hoods. just to re-iterate in my experience, i could recommend VIS of recent years.

In any case, they both beat the 3,451 lb prelude hood.
