Tire Recommendation?
First of all, I want to thank everyone who offered suggestions for my Jimmy's no start problem. I've had it running for a couple of months now, which is the longest period of time it's gone without incident since I first started having issues (nearly a year ago) -- so I'm hoping those particular troubles are behind me.
With Spring approaching, my next investment in the truck is going to be new tires. I currently have 235/70/r15's. I'd like to put something a little bigger and a little more sure footed for the occasional camping trip up in Colorado (and to just "look" a little beefier ). I won't be driving anything too hard core (I just got it running again -- I don't intend to risk breaking it!), but just get off the beaten path a little.I know that truck will easily take 235/75/r15's, but it also appears that the wheel well has room for something as large as 31x10.50. I'd probably prefer something a bit in-between -- 30x9.50. Anyway, given the number of Jimmy enthusiasts and experts, I just thought I throw out an offer for suggestions/recommendations. My Jimmy is a 1995, 4dr, 4wd, SLS model. Thanks, -- Robert |

I have a 2000 Diamond Jimmy and put on 31 x 10.5 x 15 Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo and they fit fine. They rub very slightly on the front stabilizer bar when at the full lock position but never in normal driving. I did turn up the adjustment on the torsion bar screw 5 turns to increase height 1 inch. This prevented slight touching of the front fender on large bumps at high speeds.
The rear was no issue because there is plenty of room and I have the self leveling suspension. The 30 x 9.5 would be no problem w/o modifications. No problems with computer or ride. Hope this helps. |
