Quick Question
On a 3rd gen, does the v6 come with TPI or does it have TBI with the round ait cleaner? I have someone else offering me a Camaro. He says it is a V8 (I have not gone to look at it yet) but the vin says it is a V6. He showed me a pic of the engine and it looked like it had TPI, no round air cleaner. Am I mixed up or did he swap the engine out?

the 2.8 looks tiny compared to the 305 or 350, plus the intake says 2.8MFI on the v6.

you'll know if its a V6.. when you pop the hood, there will be enough room to fit a computer tower inbetween the engine and the radiator without touching anything.... lot's of space. V8 won't be able to fit anything expect maybe a book. Or look at the number of spark plug wires on one side of the engine.... you'll see 3 wires if V6, 4 if V8.
Also Tuned Port Injection (TPI) does come on the V8's as well as TBI (throttle body injection). V6 has multiport injection (MPFI).

Thanks for the info. I am going to look at it this weekend. It is my back up in case my first choice falls through. If it is a V6 I could always swap the engine out for a 350 or 383 but my budget is limited as is so I would like to start working with a V8 instead of having to buy one to replace a V6 with.

The carbed V6 looks just like a tiny carbed or tbi 350 with round aircleaner ontop..
in 86' I belive, they changed to MPFI, Which has an aluminum intake ontop... The v6's are really tiny as mentioned.. But if theres no badges and your really not sure.. count the plug wires on the Distributor..
