AMP w/stock radio

Hey all, new to this site.

I have been trying to figure out if it is worth the effort to connect an amp to my stock stereo. I have an 04 double cab w/the CD and Tape deck. Also, I have read past posts on this and have asked best buy, but what are the exact things I would need to connect the amp to the stereo. If anybody has any advice that would be great. Thanks for any help...

I have that setup. I used a RF (?) adapter to splice into my rear speaker wires and it comes out as RCA cables. I chnged all the stock speakers out and added tweeters under 4runner pods on the doors. It sounds great.

There's a couple of different ways to do it, if You want to go with RCA low power input to your amp you will need a converter or a step down box there's a few different names for it but what it does is converts the amp's coming out of your stereo to miliamps if your going with standard power inputs (non RCA input) don't worry about it, if you want to keep from having to cut your wire harnes to pieces go to best buy explain you need a plug to fit the back of your stereo and one to fit your wire harness, this will save you a whole lot of time, you can do most of the work this way before you even crack open your dashboard then putting it together is litteraly a snap just remember to keep your power cable as far from the speaker wire as possible the drivers seat has the most room for your amp i used the grommit on the drivers side that is used for electrical cable and hood pop wire ran 4 guage to the drivers seat and ran my speaker wire back through my cuby box in the extra cab part back to my stereo on the passenger side.
