99 Passat STEERING PROBLEMS!

99 Passat GLS 1.8T. 125,000 miles. Lots of problems. One mystery. Upon acceleration, the steering wheel intermittently jerks to the right. Not rhythmically. Not while coasting. Not a wheel balance problem. No apparent damage to the axle. Power steering pump seal? Bad pump? Rack and pinion? Has anyone had this problem before!?!? Four visits to repair shops later and no one has a clear idea of what's wrong. HELP!!!

If the pump was bad then it would jerk both ways.
If your axles dont click or leak from the boots and there isnt any play in the shaft then there ok.
Check the tie rod ends.
If they are ok then the rack is the problem. It sounds like a rack issue.
Racks arent cheap also, its about a 1200 job unless you buy aftermarket or remanufactured or take it to joe shmoes curbside shop.
