Stumped!!

So here's the story.
94 Cavalier,2.2L:
I start the car, put on my safety belt, and drive away. Soon I begin to notice that the seatbelt light is blinking and when I brake, the light goes out! Take my foot off the brake pedal, and the light comes back on continuously. Occasionally it goes into standard blink mode and then reverts to brake/blink/full on mode.
This! is very distracting.
Anyone?

Tookie

Re: Stumped!!

Just disconnect the light, not like you need a light to tell you to put on a seatbelt anyway...

Re: Stumped!!

faulty wiring at the seatbelt coupling perhaps? since braking makes your body shift forward I assume the contact between the parts in the belt coupling are loose or the wires just need a good soldering?

It get better..err worse?

Last night while driving in the rain the light would go out while my wipers cycled in intermittent mode! Wipe/out...cycle end/on.
Could this be a sign of something about to happen at the most inopportune moment? I could discon the light of course; but then I'd be giving in rather than finding a better solution..heh heh.
Definitely a brainteaser.
Maybe I should rename the indicator to something more appropriate...lol

My sentiments also; but this problem mitigated itself just recently. Now I do have a decent bit of xprince with the tech side of tronics; but this one left me laughing. (until I have a massive electrical failure because of it...lol)
There's a trigger waiting to be discovered in this error, and trblshtng the whole harness is not my idea of a fun time..lol

Found some loose wiring in the wiper switch. Further checks revealed a small lever return spring rolling about inside the assembly and seemed to be intermittent contact with livestuff. It stops there; cause this fella is not going to delve into how the wiper assy is cncted to the bloody seatbelt warning assy...lol
So if you get a warning light to fasten your already fastened seatbelt because your wipers are intermittently wiping the winshield....check your .....spring?? And the brake section of the problem? Hmmmm...
(lets see em' create a fault code for that one!)

Tnx
