Help!! Silverado Exhaust

I am helping my friend with his exhaust system and im going to be doing the install along with the purchasing. He owns a 2000 Silverado ext sb 5.3L and is looking for a moderatly loud system that provides good performance. I am looking for some kind of mid pipe and a split rear cat back system that will provide the look of duel exhaust. Which brands have some of the best sound (money is no issue)? Which catted mid pipes are the best and what kind of mid pipe styles do they make? Anyone have sound clips of their setups? Thx guys for the help, im not familular with truck exhaust but i do know quite a bit about cars and how to work on them. I really appriciate the help. THX!

Re: Help!! Silverado Exhaust

go to flow master's site www.flowmastermufflers.com and check out thier clips. For that truck the best thing i have heard is an American Thunder kit from flowmaster. However i think a much better job would be to buy mufflers pipe and fittings and make your own system. However kits are much easier.

Re: Help!! Silverado Exhaust

build a system, true duals from the manifolds, 2.5 in pipe throughout, two single in, single out mufflers, your choice, then two big exhaust tips.....sounds perfect, alot of performance enhancement

If he has the money, time, and tools I'd recommend a custom set up also.

Re: Help!! Silverado Exhaust

http://www.exhaustsoundclips.com - Tunnel down to the section for Chevrolet for soundclips.

You dont have to do true duals for decent sound. My single-in dual-out Flowmaster 40 is plenty loud.

Re: Help!! Silverado Exhaust

Yeah, if you go to www.magnaflow.com and go to the trucks and suvs area you can listen to sound clips of the magnaflow systems. Magnaflow offers lifetime warranty and good performance and fuel economy gains (if you can keep your foot out of it). Magnaflow also offers a stainless steel system. I previously ran flowmasters but had problems with them rotting out with the salt here in the midwest.

Re: Help!! Silverado Exhaust

Don't forget to check Gibson's catalog. Except for a few rice-burner applications they only build TRUCK systems. I've never met a dissatisfied owner. My son just installed a 3" single cat-back kit on his 04 Silverado 4wd. Rvrrything fit and it burns rubber which it would not do before!
