starters

how common is it for Geo starters to just poop out? I havent noticed any prroblems with it in the past... but now it doesnt work

it's a 91 with almost 92,000 miles on it... i got it at 76000 June of '03

they said no noticeable problems ever -- had since new..

Sorry about your starter failing, peanut. Yes, unfortunately they fail and sometimes without warning. If that is the origional starter I would not be suprised that it failed after 13 years of use. Starters suffer wear and tear from start-cycles not miles driven.

Replacement is a bit of a pain but you can do it with a little patience. Don't forget to disconnect the negitive post of the battery before you start the job. This will avoid the possibility of shorting out your battery when you disconnect the cable attached to your starter.

Yes you have a good point - not quite sure if I was even thinking yesterday... everything sort of fell apart yesterdy!!! lol

Thanks for your help! Went to Auto Zone and got my old starter tested he laughed and said yep this thing wouldnt even start a weed wacker. so got a new one for only $112 - yipee

Car is happy now
