Coolant Leak
Hi,
First let me say this is a very informative forum. I have a '94 Blazer 4.3L Vortec 4X4. I am leaking coolant from the exhaust and the oil is fine. There isn't any discoloration of the oil. Would this be a head gasket problem or an intake manifold? Also, if I repair this myself how hard would it be. I am 90% sure that I can tackle it by myself. Thanks, IG

Re: Coolant Leak
More than likely a head gasket... But if you pull the heads, you're gonna have to replace the intake anyway...
Not a hard job, just make sure you torque everything properly and in sequence and you'll be fine.

Also, the vehicle has 188,000 miles on it. Would it be better just to replace the engine as I can get a re-built for $695.

Pretty major when coolant is going out of the exhaust. Better pull the plugs to find out which one is getting the leak.
