Coolant Leak

Hi,

First let me say this is a very informative forum.

I have a '94 Blazer 4.3L Vortec 4X4. I am leaking coolant from the exhaust and the oil is fine. There isn't any discoloration of the oil.

Would this be a head gasket problem or an intake manifold? Also, if I repair this myself how hard would it be. I am 90% sure that I can tackle it by myself.

Thanks,
IG

Re: Coolant Leak

More than likely a head gasket... But if you pull the heads, you're gonna have to replace the intake anyway...

Not a hard job, just make sure you torque everything properly and in sequence and you'll be fine.

Because it is green like coolant. (Not trying to be a smart a$$)

Also, the vehicle has 188,000 miles on it. Would it be better just to replace the engine as I can get a re-built for $695.

Not really, it could just be a gasket for the head or the intake.

Pretty major when coolant is going out of the exhaust.

Better pull the plugs to find out which one is getting the leak.
