Steerings wheel feel
hi this is my first post and from what i have read it wont be my last.... here goes
we just bought a 2000 Impala LS from a local GM dealer (we wont go back) from the get go it was a pain in the rear anyways thats a different post we got the car with the optimum plan or we think we did im calling another service dept to cross check the vin this morning... when we picked up the car it had been shampoo'ed inside not the brightest thing to deliver a car in the middle of winter with wet carpets! well the rest of the car door jams etc were a mess so much so that i ran my index finger over the jams and i was afraid to get in ! and ways im rambel'in... My wife drove the car home and noticed that the steering wheel give alot of feed back almost a tinny sounding feel i have drove several cars in the past 3 weeks and i didnt notice it and when we test drove this one i didnt notice it im thinking rack ?? maybe i guess what im asking is does anyone else notice that type of feedback in the wheel cause to be honest its a nice car i also have a 65 ss but with the lets just get it out the door mentality of the dealership im not to happy with it and second i found out this morning that the car does not have daytime running lights was this not standard on every canadian car sold since like 1990 ???? btw its a 2000 with 120,000 kms on it |

well i made a trip to another dealership this after noon found 3 things
1. recall for the fuel pressure reg was not done ( like they said oh yeah we do recalls the day we get vehicals in GM pays good money ) 2. This car was not optimized ( i can assure you it wasnt left rear brake rotor is grooved on the indside ) 3 If a GM tech test drove this car ( which is done on all safteys ) they would have found that is needs the updated steering shaft ) also on the bill of sale it says 150 point optimum pkg so where im at right now is playing phone tag trying to get them to put together the information i need to bring to the second dealership where work is to be done .. also they are going to give it a 150 point inspection and fix what needs fixing then together we are going to go after the dealership which sold the car as being optimized ( most likely outcome they will have a GM audit and could result in them losing there optimum advantage ) will keep you updated also if anyone out there with a 00 or new Impala has that ball joint type noise in the steering wheel its because it needs to have the updated shaft installed |

Re: Steerings wheel feel
well 3 days after orignal delivery of the car we have it now all problems were fixxed and the car was optimized this time !! now im pushing for them to upgrade my GM power train warrenty to the GM custom that includes everything ! and its a 500 jump in price but like i said to them i dont trust them and if they ever want to see me again they need to do something
on the other hand there is a team from GM comming down here next week to audit them !!! so time will tell and my car is now at the second dealership to have a once over to double check ! |

Re: Steerings wheel feel
i have 2001. the noise you have is the intermdiete steering shaft. the lubrication goes dry. it is not a safety concern as ive been told. they will relube shaft. wich cost 130.00 or they sell a kit. had it done cause it was getting annoying
