BMW 130i VS Skyline Coupe GT350

I know you guys must think i am out of my mind, but if u look closely is actully quite a good one, since with the weight ration 2 of them is around the same, and also their nur lap time is similar, and also the cost (Japan at least) 130i should be around 4,000,000yen while the GT350 are around 3,780,000. soo post away!

PS. think about this, you live in a country where a liter of petrol cost around 1USD and your paking space are extreamly limited!, also you can only afford parking for 1 car!

Re: BMW 130i VS Skyline Coupe GT350

130i all the way!!!! The 1 Series is BMW's best chassis yet (OK, so I hear the E90's supposed to be even better than near-perfection, but I'll give you the verdict on that soon). I drove a 120d and while I was less stoked by the power on tap (But blown away by the torque, being a diesel!!), it is certainly more fun than the 350Z, hence'll be better than the Skyline as well.

Can't forget the new 3.0 Inline Six either, 190 Kw means that the 1 series chassis'll get the engine it always deserved.

Obviously the 1 series is more practical around town and has just as much luxury equipment as a Skyline, so I see no reason to take the Skyline over the 130i, sorry!

that's cool. the new bmw 1-series shold be a pretty decent drive. suspension should be excellent, and the engine(s) should be pretty good. over in europe, the diesel would make the most sense, but anywhere else i'd go for the big six.

thats all nice, but you should decide if u would feel comfortable driving around in a hippo...

1-series:

anyone see the similarity?

haha, i might turn Jimster into a BMW guy yet

I think the new 255hp BMW 3.0L is going to be amazing. Can't wait to try it out in the E90 330i in a few months. BMW should regain its stranglehold over the sports sedan, and maybe even the hatch market.

Honestly im a little supprised to hear a Diesel BMW is more fun then the 350z, but i'll go with it out of love of BMW.

Yah, I worded that badly, I never meant more fun overall. I simply meant that the chassis alone was better than the 350Z, the Z is more fun overall, with it's excellent VQ35 and 280 bhp, but give the 1 Series more power and it'd certainly be more fun than a 350Z. The 3.0 is just what the chassis is crying out for, even the 2.2 I6 isn't enough.

In Germany? Never!!! The BMW 120i ( 150hp ) cost from 24.000€ with a Basisequipment ( air condition alone cost in Germany for this Car 1970 US $ ). The 350Z ( 280hp ), with a better Equipment, cost 35.000 Euro - AND drive in a substantially higher Class! Image is important!
BMW want to make 6 cylinders with approximately 250hp but the Price .......
The BMW is a good Car - BUT ( of the German market! ) not better then the Nissan 350Z! Not in the Price, not in the Road Performances, not in the Quality, not in the Driving Fun and not in the marvelous Sound!
A comparison between both cars is IN GERMANY impossible. A good comparison is for example the BMW and the little Audi A3, VW Golf and Ford Focus. In these comparisons the BMW can wins. But not always!

Re: Re: Re: Re: BMW 130i VS Skyline Coupe GT350

I was simply comparing the chassis' of the two cars, I am quite aware that they are a world apart and I do believe that to punt around a track, (considering nothing else, such as value or styling etc.), that a 130i is a more promising prospect than a V35 Skyline/350Z.

It's also worthy to note that the poster lives in Asia, where driving a European car is classy and wins a lot of respect (That's what friends tell me, they also say most people who drive high performance Japanese cars aren't seen in a good light there, they are seen as sort of car-nerds or "otaku," sort of like how Dragonball Z enthusiasts are seen in the Western world almost, wins respect, but only from those who appreciate a good Jap performance car)*

*This may or may not be exaggerated, it's just going on what friends in Japan and Singapore among other places have told me, probably different in Thailand, but I know of no-one there.

Dude, just because you don't want to believe it, doesn't make it any less true.

The 1 is a smaller, lighter, car, The 350z is actualy considered heavy for it's target group and it has a tendency to understeer.

BMW 120i - 2976lbs - 150hp = 19,84lbs/hp

Nissan 350Z - 3769lbs - 280hp = 13,46lbs/hp

The new BMW 130 - more Power AAAAAAAND guaranteed more weights! ( I have unfortunately no data of the new model! )

Understeer - I hate it! But the BMW 120i or the Porsche 911 have the same problem!

http://www.autobild.de/test/neuwagen...rtikel_seite=2

http://www.autobild.de/test/neuwagen...rtikel_seite=4

you can translate German with

http://translate.google.com/translate_t

Understeer in German that is - "Untersteuerer" oder "Untersteuern"

Autsch, that hurts me!

Target group? Which Target Group? BMW says the 120 is the best Car in the German "Golf-Class" ( Compact Cars )! In this Class you can find the VW Golf, Opel Astra, Ford Focus and so on. The Nissan 350Z does not fit into this Target Group!!!

VW Golf FSI ( 150hp ) - 2738lbs

Opel Astra 2.0 Turbo ( 170hp ) - 2711lbs

Ford Focus 2.0 ( 145hp ) - 2881lbs

BMW 120i ( 150hp ) - 2976lbs

.

^^ Dont forget the:

Audi A3 1.6 FSI (115 hp)
Mini Cooper S (170 hp)
Mercedes A170 (116 hp)
Renault Megane 1.6 (115hp)
Citroen 1.6 (107hp)

Those seem to be popular Euro-hatches.
