RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)
my car is 5 spd 90 accord ex with 123k miles
anyway ever since i bought the car last year i noticed when i shift gears the RPMs hesitate then drops during shifting. I think it a TPS (throttle position sensor or a fuel problem. anyway if i were in high gear (5th gear) going low speeds (40mph) going WOT (wide open throttle) and push in the clutch while letting go of the gas the RPMs will rise about 700rpms and then fall back to idle. during normal driving it will only rise like a few hundred RPMs or just hesitate then fall back to idle. im assuming this is a load problem so that is why i assume the TPS or the fuel system. anyway if u have any more questions to help me solve my problem feel free to ask. THANKS! |

Re: RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)
if your giving gas when you push the clutch in then the rpms will raise

Re: RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)
sounds normal. that "lag" you are experiencing is probally just general engine response. inertia from the crank counter-weights and flywheel tries to keep the revs up.

i also have a 12lb ACT flywheel so i doubt its that. plus it was the same when i had the stock one on. also changed the clutch as well just to clarify. ok i already changed distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, cleaned EGR and PCV port, corrected ignition timing, cleaned IAC valve, changed clutch and flywheel. |

Re: RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)
because your accelerating and when you push the clutch in your still on the throttle little so thats why its holding hte rpms for the couple seconds and explains why when your deaccelerating with no throttle at all, it drops like normal

Re: RPMs hesitating during shifting (load issue?)
Could It Be The Exhaust, The Haynes Manual Says Something About Dropping Late When The Catalystic Converter Is Clogged, OR THROTTLE CABLE MIGHT BE STICKING.
