codes for Montero sport 1997

I have a 1997 Montero Sport and I recently did some work on the engine after the mechanic was done with it the stereo displayed a err message that said code in the LCD. I have the serial number and the vin number of my vehicle please help.


Below are the vin and serial numbers

Vin # JA4LS31PGVP014143

Serial # 6Z218169

Please help. really need my stereo can't live without it.

I have a 97 and it came with special identification cards, with secret codes, as part of some sort of anti theft deterrent. If the battery is ever disconnected you have to enter these codes to reactivate the stereo. This is so a thief who presumably won't have the codes won't be able to get much use out of a stolen stereo.

If you don't have the cards you may have to go to a dealer to help you out.

the code should be listed on the back of the radio the dealer charged me 60 bucks to take the radio out to find the code
