Anyone have the aluminum wheels on their new style Durango? I lost a hubcap today from the left front wheel. I checked the other wheels and all were there, but they were loose enough I could pop them out with my thumbnail. It appears that the plastic internal part of the cap that is to hold it in the hole in the wheel has shrunk or collapsed and allows the cap to move around in the wheel. I guess it got loose enough that it finally got out of the wheel.
Anyone else have this problem? Check them before you lose them! |

I've checked all mine after reading your post and all is well with my hub caps. Sorry to hear that you lost one.

This is an ongoing problem with the new Durango and it's something Dodge is supposed to be working on. What happens is that the aluminum expands as it warms during driving and the plastic center caps pop out. I lost two before taking it back to the dealership and demaning new caps (the are about $17 each, FYI). What I wound up doing was sealing the caps in with high-temperature silicone. The caps should never need to be removed, and this allows room for the wheel to expand while holding the cap in place. I hope this helps.

Yep....lost 1 on my 2002 Durango and was able to pop the other 3 off with finger nail....this was after having tires put on it strangely enough. Anyhow, got some off ebay......try
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43961 got mine from these guys. There are other types depending on wheels and size but these are the standard ones. Perry |
