lock tight was used on harmonic balancer bolt...
94 legacy wagon..repair shop (not subaru dealer) replaced 2.2 engine due to faulty installation of the harmonic balancer, which caused crankshaft damage. the used engine they installed included a waterpump.. had a one year warranty on the engine..before warranty was up, engine overheated, and was told this was due to a faulty waterpump..repair shop says a waterpump is not part of the engine (is this correct?), nor included in a warranty...took the car to local subaru dealer to have waterpump replaced and was advised that the newly installed used engine from the previous repair shop had some problems..advised me that the bolt to the harmonic balancer was lock tightened into the harmonic balancer, rather than bolted in..they also stated that the bolt had threads, however, the area where the bolt was to be threaded, the threads were missing, and no healy coil was placed in there to allow the bolt to be threaded into the harmonic balancer.. would this cause any damage, by being lock tighted instead of the bolt being threaded into the harmonic balancer?
