My engine

I just got a 2000 Integra and when I start it, it idles very quite, but when I accelerate in any gear on a flat surface, uphill or down it kind of noisy like pinging sound I guess. I pretty much want to know if this is normal since I have no had an import car before I am not sure what kind of noises to expect. Thanks

Re: My engine

No you should not have a pinging sound. What kind of integra did you get? And what grade gas are you running?

Re: My engine

well its hard to describe the noise but i figured since it was almost silent at idle it would be silent when driving but it makes a little noise when driving..

i have a 2000 special edition, and just 87 octane.

could it have anything to do with the oil i run in it? i use mobil 1 5w30 synthetic

Re: My engine

The car only has 27874 miles on it as well.. which is why I ask if it idles very quite should there be alot of noise while driving? Runs fines..

Re: My engine

i highly doubt its the valves...it would sound like that at idle 2, sounds like cheap gas, try 89 or better, and 5w30 should be fine, just make sure u have 4qts, might want 2 dbl check timing 2
