HELP please!
My dad has a 1990 3.3L that had the a/c compressor go out. The estimates came in at $1000 to replace/repair, and he's looking for a more affordable way out. His thought was to bypass the compressor with the serpentine belt, but he cannot find a diagram to display this configuration. All belt diagrams show it with the compressor in; however, he has reason to believe that they were manufactured without the compressor so a diagram should be out there... I looked at http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d8010b6be.jsp , but that also has the diagram of the compressor in place. 1) Is bypassing the a/c compressor possible? 2) If so, how? Diagrams? Part nos? 3) Are there any other "affordable" options? Thanks in advance! |

Re: 90 GrandCaravan - bypass a/c compressor?
Not sure about the 3.3 but i did it with a 3.0.
At the parts store i had the option of a belt with or without air.The belt package had a diagram on it! |

Re: 90 GrandCaravan - bypass a/c compressor?
My clutch on the a/c compressor siezed up a few weeks ago, and all I did was disconnect the wire running to the a/c clutch to prevent the a/c clutch from engaging. Not replacing our compressor either. Plan on getting a newer van in Spring.
