rotten s-10

Hi, I have a 89 s-10 pick up that I'd like to fix up and eventually do a v8 conversion on, how ever I have a few other things I'd like to do to it first, like put a floor in it. lol
My question is how hard does anybody think it would be to replace the entire floor of my truck? is it even doable? the front driver side cab mount is pushin through and the door dont line up,actually I gotta put my fingers in the gap on the top and pull it open or I'll break the door handle AGAIN. The truck has seen better days but I love a challenge, plus I like the older s-10 trucks when they are all done up. Also maby it'll be better if I get a cab in a little better shape can anybody tell me where I could find one? yards around here dont have anything better.
thanks in advance

Re: rotten s-10

you can buy floor pan kits. already sized and shaped to fit. but it kind of sounds like your cab is a bit out of square. door that badly out of line and mount pushing though, yep you need to fix that.

Re: rotten s-10

iknow the floor pan halfs arent that expensive but how do I go about gettin the cab strait? I assume I would have to straiten the cab before I weld a new floor in. I would like to cut the old crap strait off but I dont really know the best way to straighten and brace the cab. which points of the cab should I put braces.

Re: rotten s-10

Your floor is rotten and your cab mounts are rotten and coming up through your floor and that is why your fender is wide at the bottom and touching at the top.My advise would be to find another cab.You could fix your rotten one but it will be time consuming. You would need floor pans and cab mounts and probally cab corners.Tools needed would be air cut off wheel tool, grinder, hammer, mig welder, that's just a quick few off the top of my head. Not to mention gutting the cab and picking the cab off the frame so you could have a little room to get at those cab mounts.A project for sure.

Re: rotten s-10

I wish that I had my camara ready on my holiday a few weeks back.
I saw a s-10 in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada that would make anyones look like showroom shape, even yours Maspoon.

Without a word of a lie, you could see the linkage in the doors, and the outer box sides were basicly gone. The fenders were rusted out to.
However he was still driving this rustbucket around, and it appeared to work fine.

Where do you live? I'm probably striping a s-10 close to Osoyoos BC Canada in the next 2 weeks.

If the cab is nice (I haven't seen it yet) it'll be available. I'm using the frame for a 1927 Essex hotrod (model a look alike)
