not that difficult if you know what you're doin' the bitch of it is...as I am currently looking to do the same to my 97 DX, if finding the head, or a y8 motor.

There is a d16y8 head for sale on E-bay right now, a guy who lives near me no less (not that I know him) as well as a few ECU's for it (though you can use the HX ecu with a vafc controller and your own wiring creation)

whatever you do, take the head to a machine shop once you get it to make sure it isn't warped or anything.

I'd say it's worth it, provided you find a head in decent shape - though 9/10 people who reply to this will tell you to just hold off for a full DOHC swap...also a good call.

im not gonna worry about the ecu stuff too much im gonna be swapping over to obd1 soon here so i can use hondata, and as far as the dohc swap, its somthing i orginally planned on doing, but i want to see what i can get out of my little sohc, there are afew guys around my area who have done the swap and always talk shit to the guys with sohc, so im gonna step up to the plate for us sohc guys, for the past 2 months ive dumped 90% of my money into shit for this car, i even had to move back in with my parents lol. im gonna keep spending til im satisfied, and take a wekk and put it all in. righ tnow it just looks like christmas in my bedroom

Don't take this the wrong way...but, if you're gonna serve them up...you moved back in with your parents to spend $$ on the car...hmmmm...so you'll have a bitchin' ride, but no where to take the play you'll get with it...that sucks.

agian, just bustin your chops, nuthin personal.

I feel ya with the SOHC, I think that with the right mods n such, it can be quite competetive. Not to mention, its cheaper to make similar mods as you would a DOHC. Everyone is scrambling to make DOHC parts, simple supply and demand says, that a CAI for a b18 vs. a d16 is about 25%-65% more expensive, for the same freaking pipe!! (course, that may be a bad example as the pipe is more for the engine bay rigging than the motor, my previous gsr pipe just wouldn't work with my current dx)

good luck with it, outa curiosity, what all are you pimpin on the HX? I read this thread about building your own turbo:

http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

and my new summer project obsession became a head swap and a turbo with about 5psi. mmmmm...horsepooowwwweeerrr....uuggghhhh

yea got that covered, my parents have an apartment over their garage, and i live up there, for 200 a month with everything included. i even get my own side of the garage where they just had a lift installed for me. gotta love the rents getting a big fat equity loan.
