Angry chevy engine in a ford...

so ive known this goes on for a while but it still makes me mad... i was watching this auto auction on tv and there selling old cars, some were fords from the 1940s. there were like 3 or 4 of them. every one had a chevy LT-1 in it... that pisses me off, what car guy in there right mind would do that. im thinkin it must be cheaper.

Re: chevy engine in a ford...

No it's that they realized that chevy sb are far superior to ford sb, I'm just kidding, yeah i have no idea why the hell someone would put a chevy engine into a stang or vice versa.

Re: chevy engine in a ford...

I seen that too, It irks me when they do that. I remember about a year ago, a guy wanted to "hangout" with me and some of my friends. He had a 87 Fox body with a Chevy 350 in it. We basically asked him very politely to go find another group to "hangout" with. We run into him every now and then, he used to bad mouth us, but every time he tried, and other "Stangers" found out he had a Chevy engine, he would get dogged. Last I heard, he moved to Dallas TX. I have not seen him in about 4 months.

Re: chevy engine in a ford...

A car is a car. Hell, I am building a GTR with a Ford engine, most of the guys here can't wait til I get it done.

If there is a guy that has built a Mustang with a 350, props to him, that is COOL. I would not drive it, but its still cool.

This mix and match crap is sloppy, not needed, not traditional and cheapens the Mustang. There is enough parts from Ford and the aftermarket to power any Mustang. 1 in 9 modified cars in North America is a MUSTANG. If your gonna bastardize a Mustang, then you might as well drop in FWD and some Mitsubishi/Toyota/Honda/Subaru/Nissan engine and a skirt.

Re: chevy engine in a ford...

not traditional? people have been swaping engine from chevy's and fords for YEARS

ive seen a GN motor in a Fox body kill every stang st a track before. the goal is power. Who cares what motor is used?

thats liek making fun of a guy that puts a ford 302 in a miata or a chevy 350 in a rx-7 and kills you at the track, then bitching cuz its not a real mazda. WHO CARES?! point is he killed your ass.

Yeah, I didn't say he was not nice..

But when a person keeps on boasting that Ford engines are crap and that Chevy makes a better engine, and then decides he wants to hang out with "Mustang" guys... while driving a Mustang powered by a Chevy, he is gonna get crap. None of the guys wanted to be associated with him, and everyone dropped hints that he needs to leave.

And yes I seen lots of Rods out there with SBC's and that's find and dandy, but not what I personally would do. I prefer the same company with parts from the same company, unless you can't come up with the parts anywhere.

Re: chevy engine in a ford...

agreed. i think it has to do with cost. thats the reason you see so many late model racers that run chevys. i know that for a fact. but trying to tell a ford guy that ford makes shitty engines... not gonna work lol, tell me a 350 is more powerful than a 351c...

Yeah and understand your point, if you don't care about anything but power, and it's easy for you do "swap" to another brand, then that's fine.
It's almost like calling a cut airbox a mod, or removing the air silencer a mod, It's still all bullchite.

OT here, but hows that project coming? Have not heard about it in some time.

but anyway, a lot of the old school "hotrod" guys have been putting Chevy motors in old Ford cars for a long time now. I guess it's the "hotord" thing to do.

Re: Re: chevy engine in a ford...

Cost does appear to be the motivator, but my thing, don't expect Hard Core Ford guys to "Like" a Ford powered by a Chevy.

I wouldn't ever put a Chevy into a Ford or vise versa. I am a little more forgiving if one company ownes another, for instance Ford owns Mazda, so I could forgive a 302 dropped into a Miata, since the Miata is a Ford.
