vinyl top conversion

I'm going to buy a 67' Camaro roller here pretty soon for a really good deal, the only bad thing is that it is a vinyl top. I'm willing to overlook the vinyl top for the price, but I was wondering if it would be possible to convert it to a hardtop 67'. I know anything is possible with money, but how much would I be looking at spending, I'm sure this has been done before...

Re: vinyl top conversion

All you need to do is take the vinyl off the roof and fill the holes that the chrome strips were screwed into...Only bad thing about vinyl tops (besides the look) is that they trap water and have a tendency to rust out the roof of the car...Hope when you pull it off you dont find alot of rust on the roof, or you might be replacing the roof of the 67. What kinda deal are you getting on it and what kinda plans do you have for it.

Thanks for the info Will, I'll probably go ahead and get it and replace the vinyl as you said. The guy I'm buying from is a friend of the family, so I'm getting the complete car for $500. It still has the original engine and tranny, but the engine is not working (pretty sure its something minor). I'll post up again after I check the car out...probably tomorrow.

Edit: In my first post where I called the car a roller, I was going on info that my friend had given me. I have since talked to the guy that owns it and found out that it has engine/tranny.

Re: vinyl top conversion

If your getting a 67 that has an engine tranny and isn't just a pile of shit for a $550 price, your one of the luckiest guys in the world right now...That's a steal...First gen prices have skyrocketed...I'd think a reasonable 67 would bring 5k easy...
