1996 Trouble Code P0140

Took my 96 jimmy to autozone to read the trouble code it was P0140
Which the guy told me was probably the second o2 sensor which I bought and replaced (also bought the trouble code reader, thought it might be nice to have). I went home installed it and removed the battery terminal to clear codes. The engine light went off for about 30 miles. It came back on with the same code P0140. Any ideas?

P0140 = O2 sensor circuit no activity detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
