what engines are "swapable" in a 96 integra?

What vtec engines will drop directly into a 96 integra with no modification to the vehicle. Is it better to get a USDM or JDM? Would there be issues with matching up the ECUs ?

Re: what engines are "swapable" in a 96 integra?

I was wondering that myself. I would like to do a GSR if it would just drop in. I'm not to worried about the wireing just the change in motor mount and junk like that.

The b18bc's are kinda expensive. Are there any cheaper DOHC VTEC alternatives?

None that are worth the money. The B16 is too weak IMHO. You can get the B16 kinda cheap compared to the B18C1 but your car will be slow.

after seeing this what's the point

http://www.team-integra.net/sections...p?ArticleID=43

there is very very little dif between the LS and GSR, 1 pound of tq and like 25 to 30 hp how the hell? with no tq the hp is worthless.

The perfromance potential is higher with the B18C1. But like you say why swap? I am working on getting a B20 and swap that in, then swap over all my parts from the B18B. It will be cheaper than a B18C1 swap and faster.

I guess the integra has its light weight working for it. A few mods might have it in the high 15's possibly? I was thinking maybe a pulley kit. I am also looking at preludes. I like the feel of the prelude but I cant find any GSRs in the area with less than 110k miles. I am going to look at a 98 5sp LS today. We shall see

You talking about the B20? If so yes it will drop right in and the same ECU can be used. All you need to do is swap out the intake manifold and exhaust manifold for the one that is on your car now. The motor actually looks the same as the B18B1. Actually it is basically the same motor just bigger bore in the block, they share the same head. It is an excellent swap for any LS owner.

you like how preludes drive? ive driven a couple and i thought they handled like shit.

but yea, GSR's can be pretty hard to find with low miles. try www.autotrader.com or any other online search. sometimes they make the search easier.

if you want a fast car that isn't too expensive. get that 98 LS and turbo it. you'll smoke a lot of cars for a low price. 2 cent...

Korn flakes has got the right idea I think that is my current project. Building an B18B with a turbo. Much more bang for your buck. If you are giong for a NA option than the B20 is a very good idea if you dont have the money for a B18C.
