Driver side mirrow help

I've looked around, but I haven't seen this problem anywhere.

Some no good kid driving there car hit my drivers side mirror and the entire case broke off. The cord that goes into the car, is the only thing holding in on.

The odd thing is that it was a clean break. The thing can easily be put back up and there are no broken pieces. The mirror itself is not broken and is still attached to the case.

Are there any quick fixes here or should I take it to a mechanic.

I have a 98 Grand Am SE.

Thanks.

Re: Driver side mirrow help

If the case is broken find one of the same color on www.car-parts.com and order it. They are very easy to put on. Just remove the inside trim and you will find 3 nuts and a harness to attach it. Good luck.

Re: Driver side mirrow help

Well, you can try a cheap fix. Get some very good two-part epoxy, follow directions, and bond the fixture back on. Use puhlenty of tape to hold it in position while the epoxy cures, around at least 12 hours.

That's the low-budget fix, but the best peace of mind fix is to just get a new fixture. The cable isn't that hard to disconnect, as it attaches to the mirror, and the cable/mirror assembly will unscrew out of the fixture.
