No get up and go!!!

I'm new with cars so try and be patiant with me
I have a 96 Nissan Sentra and she's riddin rough!!! It's an auto but it drives as though it is shifting too late. What do you recomend I look into for a smoother ride? My car seems to lack get up and go :-)

Well it is only a 1.6L, and with an auto you are probably only putting down about 75WHP. But if it is giving you a rough ride, you should check the level of your tranny fluid. If it is dark or smells you should flush the transmission fluid, and refill it with, I think its called Nissanmatic C fluid.
