impreza turbonator ????

While I was searching, I found so-called "turbonator" thing.

They said it would increase some hp ( about 20 or 30 ) and also

MPG of a car. It can be installed up to three.

Can I trust them? Is it worth? Don't they damage my car?

If someone has used it, please tell me about your exprience and

opinion. Frankly speaking, I'm interested in getting one. thank you.

This is their site.

Looks cool and simple, they make it sound cool.

But is it?

I really can't say, I tried to research on it but came up with nothin.

I don't think it could damage your car if it is just your intake, and nothin else.

The only way is to get it, mount it. And see how it performs....

Let me/us know. I'm kind of intrested...hell it's only 70 bucks.

After thinking on it for a bit....Wouldn't that just restrict air flow? I mean it would cause turbulance in the manfold and the throttle body (better mix for combustion)....but it would restrict over-all air flow.

I might just get it to do my own research on it.

Re: impreza turbonator ????

If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is. I don't think it would hurt anything, but it seems that it will restrict airflow by adding resistance...except if it actaully does move air more efficiently by creating a vortex as it claims. There's a money back guarantee, you can always get in and send it back if it's crap.

Re: impreza turbonator ????

This does not work. It is a scam. Or a very very badly designed car part. Either way, it will only make you slower. Take one of those little noismaker thingies with the propellers inside and try to suck air through it. Then take one without the propeller and try to suck air through it. Which one is easier? That's right, the tube with nothing in it. A vortex is created in a *low pressure* environment (water getting sucked down a drain, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.). Your intake prefers a high pressure environment. You can send that $70 to me for teaching you science rather than sending it to that guy for making your car slower.

jhg

how much is it? for half the price I will mail you a blow dryer and a power inverter so you can run a pound or two of boost. these are estimated power gains, results depend on application. let me know if you want it.

Re: Re: Re: impreza turbonator ????

the thing about the electric turbo ( turbinator ) is that it does make boost! but it only makes so much boost where it has no other sources of air flow, as with a real turbo ( exhaust manifold). the turbinator does not prouce enough boost to feed the car. your car is actually sucking in alot more air then the turbonator can ever put out, kinda like it is too slow to keep up with the motor....shouldnt really restrict flow cause your car just sucks the fan (made to make boost) faster than what it can spin itself... so you might make boost at say idol speed to 2 grand, cause its still spinning fast enough to push air instead of just not being able to keep up with the cars intake....make sence?

"The Turbonator is a NON-MOVING vortex generator"... yeah... your money is better spent on retarded hookers...

Not real explanation of that thing and I can't even find a picture of what it looks like. What is it?

The air in the intake tube has to travel through the rest of your intake tube, past the throttle blade, is split up in the manifold, goes through the bends of the manifold runners, and into the valve opening before it ever reaches the combustion chamber. Any "swirling effect" you create in the intake tube will be long gone by the time the air gets to the combustion chamber.
