Joints...replacing cigarettes?

I was talking to one of my friends who is still in high school(i graduated last year) and he described to me how all the cool kids were smoking pot. i agreed with him because i saw a couple of goodie-goodie preppy girls at the cigarette store buying a pot pipe. i know that we teens have our statements, most of which boil down to "we don't care if we die at 30", but is this really the latest thing, smoking weed? used to be all the cool outcast non-athletes smoked cigarettes...now i've been told they just smoke weed. i always thought weed was more for the burnout crowd...like me...but i guess it's cool now!(but i didn't get the memo) beyond the legalization of marijuana(see other thread), since kids really don't care if it's legal or not, does anyone else see the trend of pot gaining in popularity? anyone else see the drug dogs in the parking lots of our high schools? doesn't the lack of trust in teens build up the need to rebel against anything and everything? is anyone else seeing something wrong with the picture of watching cheerleaders buy a pipe? and not a corn-cob piece either.

hell, maybe i only think pot has risen in popularity because i've met more people who smoke.

yeah i know there's a marijuana verses cigarettes thread somewhere else but this is a little different.

u seem young and people are probably just starting to experiment. once ur 25 like me, everyone will either smoke or not, alot do!

maybe it's not that cheerleaders are becoming pot heads, maybe the potheads became cheerleaders or the goodie-goodies have began to indluge themselves. what i mean is that you have to get over your expectations of particular groups of people. the concept that "cheerleaders/jocks, don't smoke pot" is dumb. people are people and they do what they're gonna do wether they're cheerleaders, jocks, or chess club members. don't worry so much about what the "cool kids" or the "dorks" are doing and do your own thing, whether or not it involves pot. and it's certainly not a new thing, people, kids included, have been smoking weed since forever, in all demographics.

If they're goodie goodie preppy girls they won't be at the cigarette store. Once that happens they move up to the high school level of dirty slut.

that is so wrong, when I was in high school I was a cheerleader that smoked pot and drank. that did not make me a dirty slut. I was verry clean!!!

pot=slut? sorry but thats like saying if u were in a porn store, ur a killer?doesnt make sense.what does pot have to do with sex?in my case i combine the 2 together, but thats just me!

i used to smoke. I thought it made me look cool. Until i realized it made my breath stink like what ever it was I smoked. Cant pick up women that way...

O yeah I work at a place that sells oxygen. Yes OXYGEN. I'd say about 80% of oxygen customers are or were smokers. You may not care about how long you live, but you would when you realize how much money you waste on oxygen (sometime that should be free but like a gift when you break it or lose it, you have to pay for it) . EVEN after/if your health insurance pays. Think...weed/cigs+oxygen when your lungs can't pull in enough on its own anymore+shortened life expectancy=why did I think I was cool when I was younger?

The thing about the slut remark is a whole lot of the girls at my school who smoke pot are the biggest whores on earth. So it seems to me that if some preppy girl smokes pot, chances are she's becoming a slut.

At the schools i went to i'd say over 80% of people smoked weed... so definately, the jocks, the nerds, the popular crowd, the gangster crowd, everybody smoked it. It's not something thats exclusive to any group...

well, everyone in my highschool that drove a mustang was a homosexual. so it seems to me that if you drive one, chances are you're going to take one up the pooper.
