Alarm & electrical problems

I've just recently bought a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and have been having a problem with the alarm coming on at night for no reason and also sometimes when driving the door locks will keep trying to relock themselves and the interior upper lights will turn on and off. Ive seen some other earlier posts of people having almost the exact same problem and was wondering if anyone has found the fix for this problem? It seems to happen the most when the temperature is lower than 40 degrees and at the first start up of the day. The interior lights flashing is very annoying when driving home from work at 10 at night on the freeway!!!!
Any help would be much appreciated!

I have the exact same problem, but it does not matter what start of the day it is, nor is it temperature dependent. Occasionally my liftgate open indicator will come on with it, but not always.

Very annoying isnt it? It's like having a disco ball in my truck when driving at night...it's very sporadic...have you found out anything about the possible cause of this?

Re: Alarm & electrical problems

I'm not sure what the cause may be, but it sounds like a door switch. Try replacing them. On a 98, they should be like my 97 and it is only 1 screw and a quick disconnect 2 wire harness. Thats for all four doors. I'm not sure about the tailgate. The reason I suspect that is because of your alarm and dome light. I know if your alarm is set and you open your door, the alarm will go off. And if your alarm is thinking that your door opened, that would set the alarm off and your dome light would come on. I guess that would be the most simpliest thing to look at and change. Let us know if that is the problem.

I will try that with my tailgate switch, once I find it, anyone know how to replace that? I figure that must be it since it only says liftgate open when things flash, and not either of the doors.
