Insurance Optional

Dang...

I saw a pic of the box before it was shipped, and it was packed reasonably well, so I don't fault the seller... I guess the USPS needed a bit of stress release.

Oh, well. I'm glad I got it for cheap. It's just the body shell and window glass parts that are ruined. I'll pick up another regular ITR kit somewhere...

The actual race-car parts are really cool, like the stripped interior tub, rollcage, and the Fujimi seatbelt set.

Re: Insurance Optional

Perhaps the driver was really short and used it as a seat booster.

Bad luck Jay

Parcel firms just do not care. That is pretty bad. At least it was perfect when you brought it, and it was the delivery firm that ruined it.

I've just got a kit (OK it was cheap) from an ebay seller, and even though it claimed to be none started and complete it's not. The picture I looked at on the ebay site is nothing like what I've just got..!! It's been started, and started poorly..

I hope this makes you feel better.
I received one that still had the tire tread marks on the outside and two that were punctured and crushed with a forklift. Total loss was around $1800.

And most people think model sellers have it so good.

Hey Jay, that sucks. Been there! Not to hijack your thread, here is what I got:

I got this last week. Shipping by UPS, and the box must have been so bad they repacked the model in another box. In doing so they lost the decals to boot. Thankfully the first $100 is covered. Not a big deal as I got a good deal on the kit.

Re: Insurance Optional

I hate to blame this on the USPS since my dad works for the Postal Service.

One thing I might note is the box says nothing (looking at the picture) about keeping it on top. There are pretty heavy shipments made, believe it or not, and sometimes those will end up on your box.

I'm sure there are things the USPS can do to prevent this, but I'll leave it to the big guys to figure it out.

Re: Insurance Optional

Ouch...

Doesn't look that good. I really hate it when it happens.
UPS and others just don't seem to care...

(UPS once ruined alithography I ordered because someone stepped on it: a big footprint on the box!)

Re: Insurance Optional

That really sucks! The worst that's happened to me wasn't really that major, but pissed me off nonetheless. The UPS man left my package on a big sheet of ice on my porch, failed to realize that ice melts, which it did, soaking through the box and totally ruining the decals on a race car kit
