need suggestions

ok i dont really know too much about cars, so can you guys help me? i'd like to get a performance part or two, but dont know what my options are.

i have an '01 Eclipse GS(i know, pretty low on the food chain, but i got it for my 16th b-day so im not complaining)
i would like to gain a few horses, maybe in the range of 10-15
however, i have a pretty small budget, so keeping suggestions under $200-250 would be nice.

any thoughts?
thanks in advance

Re: need suggestions

dude...a cold air intake would probably give you few horses...its within that budget...headers can be pretty expensive...might wanna save for a little bit...and you could get an exhaust...depends too...a full cat back...that'll cost you a little bit more...actually...about double your budget there...or you could just get the muffler...but with that budget...best option is the CAI just cuz the 3g eclipse's stock air intake totally sucks...take a look at it...hahaha...looks like it can barely breathe...

Re: need suggestions

im sorry to tell you but you will get nothing as far as performance on that budget. that is barely enough to buy an intake which does almost nothing as far as performance

EBAY!!!!!!!!!!! just make sure you dont buy shatty shuff...besides I/H/E u could go for brakes(new drilled/slotted rotor and colored callipers are nice) You could also go for looks.. rims and wheels were my first but they are expensive. You should get clear corner lights and a grill for in front of the fog lights. I also have intake, new lights, inserts on the back bumper, a hose dress-up kit,and led ground effects. And then there is SOUND...my 15" sub and amp sound great. Great thing is all these things are in your budget!

performance is very expensive for this car. a decent exhaust is gonna cost you $300 bucks. headers.....atleast $500 for the crap headers, $1000 for the good headers.

stay away from ebay. there is a reason the stuff there is so cheap. always remember this "you get what you pay for". if you buy a performance part off ebay, dont come crying to us b/c it doesnt fit, you didnt get the part, or its messed up your car. this will be your only warning.

Re: need suggestions

a $15000 car is a little different from a $300 performance part.

you do know how the feedback works dont you??? lets say i want to screw people over on ebay. all i have to do is create about 20 fake items, have my friends bid on them and win, then have them leave me great feedback. i can also use my friends to run the price up to where i want it. i can find somebody who really wants the product i am trying to sell, have my friends keep bidding on it until it gets to where i want it. then the guy who really wants it will be getting screwed b/c nobody else really planned on buying it. its that easy

Re: need suggestions

thats only if you bid and stuff cuz I have ordered so many things in ebay and I havent HAD no probs at all I have ordered from keys to lights,to performance parts, and no prob at all if it didnt work nobody would be buying crap from it...anyways yea sometimes it can happen you get something broken but that happens everywhere, not just ebay

enough said. and anyways, that thirty bucks you wasted on an intake really is'nt gonna give you what you expected. don't cry when your hopes are let down. drasticly let down. especially when you buy that $200 AEM..... dont get me wrong, some good shit can be found, you just gotta know how to not get got!

Thruster, for 250$ your better off saving it. or using that extra money towards 93 octane and synthetic oil. might be able to find some nice rotors and pad and some SS line........

Re: need suggestions

i use 91 octane now. i thought high octanes were only good for high-compression engines?

Re: need suggestions

91 octane is good enough. you actually dont need to run that high with the GS. if you had a GT, then its recommended to use 91 or higher
