Good Mods For Low End Power

Ok i have a 94 SL and my torque sucks on this thing. To make things better it is an automatic. I am tired of driving it manually. What mods can I do to make nice low end power? Do they make any kind of ECU chips for our cars or anything?

Re: Good Mods For Low End Power

How about a v8? lol, umm the only way I can think of adding low end power would be pistons, maybe some headwork, or underdrive pulley. Everything else is aimed at HP and mostly just raises the RPM at which the max torque comes.

Please tell me you don't mean shifting it from 1-2, etc...... Don't do that.

Nope. Well I guess technically there are some made but they don't do anything and aren't worth the money. And yea, I'm not sure on too many mods for low end specifically. All the basic BPU stuff tends to raise the power band... just perfect brake torqueing

torque? plenum spacer! that will move your torque peak earlier in the rpm band, but by only maybe a few hundred rpm. it goes between the upper intake plenum and the lower intake plenum. you should replace the plenum gasket as well (as you'll need 2 instead of 1, one for each side of the spacer).

Re: Good Mods For Low End Power

most n/a mods tend to make more tq in adition to the hp but i have heard good things about hedders shorty headers to be spesific as they make loads of tq but in the 3s cars im not to shure that you can make long tube headers anyways or at least not without a big headace

plenum polishing can also make more hp and good tourqe.

the rule of thumbs is of course the bigger the displacement the bigger the tq so you culd perhaps increase the displacement with borig or replace the 6g72 engine with a 6g74 i saw some guy on the net doing that to his car

best thing for torque on an automatic is a high-stall torque converter

Re: Good Mods For Low End Power

I still say plenum spacers are a mod that should be saved for carburated engines. Yes they cool down the plenum temperatures, but IMO, not the best for fuel injected engines. Feel free to post disagreements, like I said, just my .02

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
