Question Rims

So I wanna get new rims for my 1996 firebird so I can just swap them in the fall to my stock rims and snow tires. Of course they have to look awesome. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions besides the chrome stock ones.... 17s??? I dunno I am open to anything.... AR rims?

I ordered the American Racing Wheels torq thrust II's 17X9.5 for my 98 firebird. They are getting wrapped in the copper zeon 2xs....of course, this is also burning a big hole in my pocket

those are some nice lookin wheels. go with 17 or 18. no bigger than that. But mayn, if you get wheels put in a firebird, you need to get it lowered. The visual gap between the low profile tire (which u better get) and the wheel well is rediculous. it looks like shit. Plus it shows off the actual height of the car without lowering. trust me, it looks 10 X better lowered if you have wheels. and mayn, a bird looks good lowered. i have my bird lowered 2 inches. its niice

Re: Rims

You can see below how the 17 inch Ws6 rims look below. I have had 4 different rim styles on my car. Currently I have the 17 inch chrome thin spoke corvette rims put them on a couple of days ago. They look great.

I agree lowering looks great but is very impractical for everyday driving. My T/A convertible scrapes daily without being lowered and so does the fbird below.

Good luck I hope you find what you're looking for.

Re: Rims

yeah lowering does create a problem with scrapping. it just depends on how you drive thought. ive drivin lowered cars around for 2 years now so i know th basics of what a lowered car can and cant do. what it can and cant go up or down and how to angle it and not be going 3MPH so...

but yeah. good luck mayn. hope ya find some nice lookin rims for it. 5spoke thin ALWAYS looks great. (im in my opinion)

Re: Rims

On a 4th Gen F-Body, American Racing 200S Custom Offset (Series 420) rims IMHO. Those are some damn sexy wheels. Cragar S/S rims are still my favorite, but look 10000000000ee999 times better on older american muscle cars (pre 80 ish)

Re: Rims

torque thrust II's and torque thrust D's are great but i am a fan of old muscle car era and pro stock look so the Weld draglite or pro star wheels.i am not a big fan of heavy chrome rims like that they look good but allow stang to beat us in drags and we can't have that!

Re: Rims

yea i like both of those american racing rims.. especially the daisy style ones, colt.
On my 76' im most likely goin with Cragar s/s or torque thrust II, I wouldnt mind a set of "deep dish" wheels but i can't find anyone that manufatures them

the ill nasty rims

I just bought Corvette ZR1 rims off ebay. They are gorgeous, they only cost $500 with shipping and they are 17x11'' in the rear so I can run 315 series rubber. Just check em out on ebay. There worth a look. I got black ones with a chrome lip but they come in a bunch of colors and finishes.
