Post '97 suburban flasher switch

My 97 suburban signal flasher keeps running or clicking, even when the turn signals are off and the hazard flasher is off. I replaced the flasher switch but it still does it. Its strange, the flasher operates but the directional lights do not light up unless the directional switch is on. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: '97 suburban flasher switch

It appears to me that the lead from the flasher to the turn signal switch is grounding somewhere. You could try to disconnect the wiring harness to the turn signal switch and see what happens. If it stops clicking there could be a problem in the switch. If it continues with the switch disconnected,I suspect that the flasher is getting a ground before the switch.I hope this can help you.
