How long will it last?
I am asking probably common question but am curious as to how much longer my car has left in her. I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX Coupe. I have maintained it very well over the years and has never been touched by anyone but a Honda Dealer (I have a friend that works there). I am sitting right around 69K miles and am curious as to what the average life length of a car like this is.
I know there are stories of Hondas' running 400K and a bunch over 200K, but I am wondering on average what a car like mine will have mile wise when all is said and done and it is time for a new car. Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: How long will it last?
my 93 has 181k and that isnt even with regular tune ups or anything, and she still purrs like a kitten... so i gues your answer would be, as long as you want.

Re: How long will it last?
If you take care of her, she'll easily last you far beyond 200,000 miles. D-series engines are almost bullet proof. Short of throwing dirt and rocks in the engine, driving with a damaged T-belt, water pump, or thermostat; there isn't a whole lot to break the engine. Heard from quite a few people that they've ran the engines with almost no oil at all (less than 1qt), and the engine just lost power until they replaced the missing oil. Saw a video not too long ago with some guys pouring water directly into the head 3 times, and beat the hell out of the motor. It finally seized after they put dirt and pebbles into the engine (and the gallons of water they used up).

Sound good, very good news. I have always heard of Civics lasting well over 200K but a lot of times it is all just BS and all, so I wanted to get some more insight on it. Thanks.

Re: How long will it last?
well, heres the hondas Ive had in my family and the mileage, all still run perfect or did when I/we sold them, except my ZC cuz I drove it HARD, redline every shift and downshifted whenever possible cuz it was like driving a gocart around the curves around here.
1 90 teg GS, 1 92 teg GSR, 185k, 178k but 2 94 tegs, 1 95 teg, (all non vtec)121k, 128k, 95k 1 93 accord, 1 94 acord 231k, 145k 1 94 civic HB, 1 93 civic sedan, 135k(then swap) 185k 1 97 crv 142k 1 (96?) 2.2CL 124k 1 98 civic 121k(insurance claimed totaled) theres more but I cant remember all the mileages. I guess my family likes hondas, most of those were mine though, but if you take care of it it will go easily over 200k.
