Question shadow alternator belt

the alternator belt on my shadow broke this morning as I was starting it. Hopefully I am missing something terribly obvious, but it seems impossible to get the new belt around all 3 wheels (two pulleys and 1 smooth wheel). the alternator has been loosened and lowered as much as possible, but the belt will still not reach. it looks like it needs about 2 more inches of slack. any tips on how to do this would be much appreciated!

Re: shadow alternator belt

The belt should go so the backside of the belt is against the smooth pulley
