99 SI AEM V2 Problems/Complaints

I have a V2 for my Si, and have a serious problem. The inner fender liners DO NOT fit no matter what. I have tried bending them all over the place, and still am, but so far nothing seems to work. Without this inner liner, it doesn't cover the filter well - which then the tires just fling crap and water all over the filter. Has anyone else had this problem? Or discovered a solution to it? I would not have purchased this intake had I known this...
