3.1L VIN M '94 Ciera S misfiring--TPS?

Hello again! Well, this cutlass has some longtime misfiring issues. Longtime as in for probably a year or two, and we never bothered to fix it (there is a pesky 307 VIN Y in a station wagon that is more trouble) but now I have it, and I am going to fix it. Basically, it has a slight misfiring issue and it only happens occaisonally. The BIG problems is that sometimes, when idle, it surges tremendously. I hope that is the right wording, because it seems like it is revving itself up for a little bit.

The other issue, which i'm assuming is a misfiring issue, is that it seems to shake when trying to maintain a constant speed when going 50mph or higher. I'm sure it is misfiring, but the evidence of a problem is that the pedal feels like it is shaking or jerking, and the wheel and part of the dash on the driver's side shakes slightly. No passengers can feel any shaking in the seats or anything, and neither can I. I replaced the horrible old tires with Goodyear Regatta 2 tires in late fall, so I know its not that. The power doesn't APPEAR to be lost in the process, but you have to go wide open throttle or let up entirely on the gas to get it to go away.

We have replaced 2 of the ignition coils (finding some crud inbetween the middle coil and its contact surface) and the spark plugs with Autolite Double Platinum plugs. We were 3 or 4,000 miles early with the plug replacement, but noticed the 3rd spark plug was considerably grimey...far more than the other plugs (which looked relatively clean). It also occaisonally misfires when you are idle, but not all the time. The Oxygen sensor was replaced last winter.

Does anyone think this could be the throttle position sensor or the IAC? If i'm thinking correct, would the TPS make more sense to replace first?

Oh you know what? I forgot to update this thread too!

I fixed the misfiring, and this is what it was: One fuel injector was plugged and the plug wires were shorting. Replaced the plug wires with good quality ones and got the fuel injectors completely clean and its been running great.
