What is this?

Hi,

I bought the vehicle used, so I dont have all the info on what various things are. The owners manual says that its an accessory power outlet, but doesnt say how t use it or what it takes. Is this a 12 volt outlet? I need to plug in my laptop comptuter while on the road. Can I use this outlet and if so how?

Thanks for the info. Any ideas on where I can find an inexpensive adapter so that I can use my powerbook in the van?

Phillip,

Check out Circuit City or similar shops for an "Inverter". This transforms 12VDC to 110AC.

Just make sure you get one that can power the AC Adapter for your laptop. For example: if the power rating for your laptop power supply is 70 Watts (should be printed there somewhere), get an inverter that is equal to OR HIGHER than 70 Watts.

I use one that is rated at about 300 watts.

Hope this helps
