Okay I have a 2002, 1500, 4.7 engine. I have no problems with this truck from the first day I got it until recently about a week ago.
The Problem?! When driving on the highway or even at a slow and steady pace say, 5mph, there is a squeaking noise that is just truely annoying. It happens when I turn right mostly but if I turn left to a 85degree angle it stops. Does anyone know what it might be? I thought it might be the breaks telling me they need to be changed out. I do have 77,000 miles on it right now. Also, what does a break job coast on my truck I have called around and they have quoted me at about 300 dollars for all three. Is that good? Or can I buy the breaks myself and put them on.

"they have quoted me at about 300 dollars for all three."
three???? you should have 4 unless you need to have something turned, you should be able to pick up new pads (or pads and shoes) for a lot less than $300. and changing them is relativly easy. if you do change them yourself, wile you have the front end jacked up, try to shake the tires (hands at 12 and 6-o-clock position) to check for play. if there is play, you may have a bad wheel bearing or ball joint. but as you mentioned, the squeek could just be the indicators contacting the rotors letting you know that you need new breaks. or it could be somethingas simple as a small rock got stuck in there, that happened to my grandmother, her car has a squeek like that, and when we checked it out, we found a verry small pebel between the rotor and pad. good luck, keith
