Haunted Corsica's

Would the ignition switch in the column need to be replaced if:
...The car is runnung at 45-50 mph and the the ingnition shuts off, then comes back on? (seems to me this has very dangerous implications)
...The speedo drops from 75 to 40 then comes back up?
...The power door locks release, then re-lock while driving?
...The engine starts, then dies, all dash lights go off when the key is released. (Repeat this process until corsica feels like staying on)

I make lots of short trips, so the ignition key is well used.

Also, any word on why the defroster would decide not to defrost? Heat works.

Can't afford a new car...

Sounds like you might have to replace your computer.

Check your battery cable connections. Make sure they are tight and arent covered with corrosion. (you have to unbolt them and check under the boot on the end cuz thats where the problem usually is)

Re: Haunted Corsica's

The rear defrost is probably not working because you have a short somewhere my best guess would be the wire that is in your trunk on the left side by the speaker it could be melted. I have a tempest same as the corsica. my tempest, the wire melted and I have another tempest that I bought for 100 bucks because the lady who own it turned on her rear defrost and blow out her back window.

Re: Haunted Corsica's

Thank you everyone for your postings. This is a followup. My stupid corsica finally died and would not restart and I had it towed to Chevy dealer in Aledo, IL. Great guys, but it still took three hours labor to convince them it really was the starter switch. Not a problem since.

However, the defroster still dosen't blow hot air on the windshield, just the floor!
