engine swap 4.0 to a 351 can it be done?

We have a 1992 explorer with a v6 4.0 Does anyone know if we can pull it out along with all the computers and put a 351 windsor in it? Did a 92 explorer come out with a v8 in it? Need to know if the bell housing will match up also.

No, there were no V8s in Explorers that early, and the V8 that was installed in the mid-late '90s Explorers is the 302 (5.0L). Based on the volume of the early '90s engine bays, I'd say that the only way a 351 would fit in your explorer is if you removed the radiator and grille. Also, it is 99.9% likely that the bell housing bolt patterns do not line up. Even if they did, you'd be putting a ~250 hp engine on a transmission designed for a 145 hp engine... bad news.
