Short Trip issues

Alright I just got back from a trip to reno totaled about 350 miles. I come home to hear some strange noises.

for one. My power steering makes a growling noise when I turn the wheel. It's nice and full of power steering fluid. I don't think my lines are blocked, though I can't be sure. Any ideas? I'm guessing power steering pump if it's not my lines.

for another. When I downshift into first from a low speed and let the gear slow me down I hear a weird noise like scratching/rattling/grinding noise "Grreeeeeeeh" is the best sound I can describe it as. I'm guessing my transmission is screwed but I don't even know where to start. Maybe it's low on Transmission fluid? I'd better check my differential fluid while I'm at it....

Sheesh this was only a short trip. I can't believe she's having issues already.

BTW::::I did find my HO IDI Cover though; CRJ,Noshun. But I broke my ratchet and well didn't have the tools necessary nor the help to get the head out (BTW: Would I need to use pistons/cams from the achieva or stick with the cavy's?) . and it was in an Achieva. Anyways, Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Short Trip issues

hmm... thats alot of different problems you have there. You don't want the head off of it unless you are planning on taking the whole engine. Long list of reasons not and it won't fit on your 2.4 without being machined.

Re: Short Trip issues

on that HO... just take the IDI cover off and put that on your LD9.. thats what most people do along with the intake manifold and TB... i hear the gains of the manifold are pretty nice.

Gonna take it to a friend who used to race. See what he says, people are telling me I'm crazy but I know there's something wrong with my car. I can hear it. Any ideas to what could be causing my problems?

P/S pump the sound in the trans could be clutch, just don't shift into first unless more or less stopped!

I think I blew my p/s/ pump last night in a snowy parking lot. no loss of fluid! Damn. I can manage without p/s but the pump might not hold out!
