brakes in the rain

when it rains the brakes on my 05 suck. I got to push hard to get the thing to stop when getting of the highway. in town its ok but still not as good as when its dry. is this a common problem with cavs?

Your discs are just getting wet. the pads are probably cheap ones. Just lightly touch the pedal before you need the brakes and this will dry them out aloowing you better stopping!

Yup Yup Yup... ^^ You should always increase your braking time while in the rain anyways. Hydroplaning into someone is no fun for either 2 people.

yea I know it just felt alot diff than other cars that I have driven. but do they make a bigger rotor and brake kit and also what about changing the rear drums to disc brakes. prolly been covered before I'll look around.

don't go crazy with rear brakes, you want the front to be a lot stronger or it'll swap ends on you under hard braking!

Your brakes are only as good as your tires anyway. The stock brakes are strong enough to lock em up and get the ABS working. If they are using the same pads as used in 2002, the material seems too hard as the pads will wear little and the rotors will warp and wear instead. If I did anything I would just replace the pads for now. I am using cheap semi-metallic pads now and they seem to stop better.

I have a 2005 too just like yours in the rain I have the same problem .
