EG, EK, EL What's It Mean!?!?!

So I'm a bit embarassed for asking this (especially since I all ready posted it once in the interior forum like a jackass) but I feel I've been doing this stuff long enough now that I should know, but I don't...and all the searches showed the codes, but no explanations...no help.

what the heck do the EK, EG, EL etc codes mean for the variety of civics, integras, etc.? I was perusing the h-motorsonline and looking at some nifty JDM stuff, and not looking (no pics) at stuff. But they are all labeled as EJ/EK/EG what have you...been on the look out for a type-r wing for my 97 hatch, but not knowing if Im pimpin an EG or EK or Egads is begining to piss me off.

AND where the hell can a dude find a friggin d16y8!?!?!? For the love of Pete!! I don't wanna d15b I wanna d16y8!!! or even the head and the ECU!! SHEESH!! Why doesnt anyone sell these!?!?!?

eg is the old hatch, 92-95- ek is 96-98...maybe 00 not 100% sure, ef is the older body hatch -91, i dotn knoe el...but integra is dc5 94-, and from experience....go b series..i love my y8 but its at its full poten right now

BTW the EL isn't a chassis code, it's an actual car. Acura EL

So would something from an EK9 fit my car? Not that I want it, but, for example, there is a civic type-r momo steering wheel on hmotors, it says for EK chasis only, would that fit my EJ6?

more over, would certain universal parts fit my car from a later year, example, a rear disc conversion from an EG?
