transfer case? and other questions

97 2.5 auto.. some days just somedays for certian peroids of time my jeep will make this annoying geergiling noise like water bubbling or somthing. it does it when u are driving or siting idleing. I belive it is related to the four wheel drive because it only does it in 2wd and when it does it if u shift into 4 it stops, its like the transfer case its jiggling. But its rather embarsing, my friend says it sounds like a desil but hes no car expert!

Do i need to have a cat coverter? can i just do away with it?

Turn signal, somtimes when i click it on to turn left it will blink then stop but the lights on then it will blink for a bit then stop. Then somtimes when you put the brake on the left turn light will come on but not blink just come on when the brakes are applied.

Thanks Derek

I am no expert on Jeeps but I had the same problem with my 97. It was the cat converter. I guess that the inside is made of something that breaks up and clogs the converter. I was told that you don't have to have a cat. converter, unless you have emissions testing. Mine was covered by the warrenty - but its probably out dated by now.
Hope that helps. Maybe you can help me with my Jeep problems

Re: transfer case? and other questions

The cat is covered by the extended (Federally mandated) emissions control equipment warranty -- on '95 and newer cars/light trucks it's covered for 8 years or 80k miles. Here's a link to the EPA requirements (with all the fine print, etc.):
