Location Coolant Temperature 2002 Pontiac Sunfire
Hello,
I am trying to fing the location of the coolant temperature sensor on a 2.2L engine. The temperature guage is acting erratically and reporting incorrect temperatures. I just changed the thermostat, the water pump is functioning, the fan is coming on, but the guage is reading over 195 degrees at idle. The hose from the thermostat housing is barely warm, the trermostat is open and water is flowing normally. I suspect that the sensor may be bad but I don't know where it is. I tried to find a Hayes manual for the vehicle, but the index which lists the books that are available stop at the 2001 model year. Any help would be appreciated. My fiancee commutes 40 miles each way to work, mostly through the middle of nowhere, so I'd like to fix this problem as soon as possible. Thanks, Mike
