I have a 93 civic DX Hatchback. I just replaced the driver side drive axle. I'm putting it back to gether and I'm having problems with the ball joint that connects the outer end of the front loer control arm to the steering knuckle. This had a crown nut on it and I needed a pitman puller to get it off. Now, when I try to put the crown nut back on the bolt coming down out of the ball joint just spins. I appears that I need to somehow compress the ball joint to stop the spinning. I guess. Do any of you suspension knowledged guys know how I can get this nut back on and /or how do I compress this MF. I'm so close to done and the f'n weather is like 15 degrees out so I need the quickest solution possible.

I just stuck some pliers in between the pitman arm and the top to the ball joint and had my friend hold it REALLY tight while i tightened the bolt from the bottom in. After you get it on MAKE SURE you put in the cotter pin or the bolt on the bottom could come loose. Im sure there is an easier way to do it but i never knew how.

Thanks Man, I finally got it on after it was nice out. I bought a 3" universal clamp and got it in the right spot to hold it in place. Once I cranked it down I had no problems tightening it down.
Thanks for you reply! |
