Common problems for a 1993 S-10

Hi,
I'm going to test drive a 1993 S-10 tomorrow and I was wondering if there are any common problems I should keep an eye out for. It's $2900 Canadian in a used car lot, so there must be something wrong with it. :P
Thanks

dashboard rattles! I had a 93 and the interior rattles would drive me nuts! I guess this is common in those. Other than that, the trucks go forever.

Thanks for the tip, I'll listen for a rattle, do I have to get it up to highway speeds for it to rattle or was it at city speeds?

I can't tell you that cause the truck was locked so I didn't see under the hood yet. I can tell you tomorrow. I just need some obvious things to look out for on the test drive right now.

well then look for and feel for the normal, pulling, howling, listen for the fuel pump (you should hear it) watch all guages, the oil sending units like to go, so dont let oil pressure worrie you a whole bunch, feel if the tranny slips (assumeing its an automatin and not a std transmission) listen for awkward knocks and test all options, if it has power windows, roll them down, i know its winter, but wait untill summer if they dont work, test the ac, if equiped, if she checks out, she will run for miles upon miles with basic matinence and upkeep, will last longer if you live down south in the no salt territory of the us

Hi, thanks for reminding me how much I forgot to mention about the truck :P
I'll just start over:
1993 Chev S-10
4-cyl
5 spd manual
2wd
Short box Reg Cab
161,000km on the guage

I live in on the coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Thanks for the tips.

161,000km is a decent amount of use. I would check the common wear items. Ball joints, wheel bearings, steering linkage, brakes and shocks.

If you have a mechanic friend bring him (and your toolbox) with you.

We've had a used car lot replacing all the tune-up parts for us and still talked him down $1500.cndn because my mechanic still found a couple of questionable things on the truck.
